In order to generate an increase in visitors during the Soccer World Cup period, the Namibian Tourism Board (NTB), in collaboration with Air Namibia, has invited the tourism sector to participate in the initiative Namibia: It’s open season.
Minister of Tourism, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, in her address at the launch, appealed to the private sector to participate in this initiative to make the most of the coming tourism season, especially in the wake of influences of Soccer World Cup 2010. The NTB launched its new-look logo, brand, and corporate identity at the same event.
The collaborative initiative will apply to Air Namibia routes to and from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Frankfurt. The concept requires participating destinations and service providers to offer at least 40% discount off normal published rates up to 31 July 2010. This is to trump up decreased demand to Namibia due to World Cup 2010.
It is expected that the ‘Open Season’ will be promoted, sold and marketed through each participating organisation and Air Namibia’s existing channels. Reservations are confirmed 14 days prior to travel. (MvR).
