A lot of factors are the cause of the environment suffering at the moment. The social, political and economical activities are definitely leaving its mark.

According to Viktoria Keding, Director of the Namibia Desert Environment Education Trust (NADEET), some risk factors can be regulated because people control it. She used the example of people leaving their lights on when they are not home. This leads to electricity being wasted.

As a small country, Namibia has the opportunity to learn from the mistakes that was made by developed countries. Those countries have learned their lesson of not managing their resources well. She also said that it is always better to do something good to the environment by using environmental friendly alternatives.

NADEET aims to create awareness, knowledge and values to live in a sustainable manner. This is important because Namibia has limited natural resources and an increasing population, who wants to use those resources, especially water and energy.

Environmental literacy is offered to schools, educators and individuals by NADEET. There is even student internship that is offered to students in the Nature Conservation Department at the Polytechnic of Namibia.
