A Mongolian delegation recently visited Namibia for 10 days to learn about Namibia's widely acclaimed Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) programme.

According to the chairperson of the Namibian Association of CBNRM support organisations (Nacso), John Kasaona, Namibia’s CBNRM programme is successful because local communities are reaping benefits from wildlife conservation. “Because of the CBNRM programme, the Kunene Region now has the largest population of free-roaming black rhino in Africa.”

The 12-member delegation consisted of parliamentarians, conservationists and government officials. The party was hosted by the WWF in Namibia and Nacso. Much of Mongolia, like Namibia, is communal land.
