“Once you start a career as a pilot, you don’t want to go back to a ‘normal’ job, because flying is not really a job, it’s a lifestyle,” says Oliver Braun, pilot and owner of Kingfisher Fly-in Safari.

Oliver started Kingfisher Fly-in Safari in 2006 as a tour-operating company, and a year later bought his first aircraft (which was part of Kingfisher for about half an hour, before being sent back to where it came from – ask Oliver to tell you the story when he takes you on a personalised fly-in). In 2008, Oliver bought the six-seater Cessna 210 he still flies today. The Kingfisher Fly-in Safari of today is a fly-in and tour operator all in one, because, as Oliver says, “The two go hand in hand.”

Kingfisher focuses on tourists to Namibia and Southern Africa who want a guided fly-in experience with a personalised service that provides information on the area of interest. Oliver will be your pilot, guide, translator and personal assistant all in one. Born and bred in Germany, he focuses mainly on the German-speaking market and has the advantage that he is one of a few German-speaking pilots in Namibia. He’s been flying since 2002, specialising in ‘bush flying’.

Flexible

Kingfisher flies guests to all major tourist attractions in Namibia, either for day trips or longer stays, and offers trips to other countries in Southern Africa, such as Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi and Zimbabwe. An added bonus is the fact that Oliver, or if he is not available, one of his freelance pilots, will be part of your journey every step of the way. Starting with the pick-up at the airport, continuing with the activi-ties, meals and shopping excursions, and ending with a drop-off at the airport, Oliver and his team will make sure that you are well looked after. Kingfisher Fly-in Safari is family, child and handicap-friendly, and a 100 per cent flexible and time effective. Oliver also does personalised marketing in Germany three or four times a year. (MvR)
