Travel News - Industry News - Tourism gains from MCA project

A total amount of US$304.47 million has been made available to certain government ministries and institutions during the current five-year term of the Millennium Challenge Account for Namibia (MCA-N) contract. It is expected that an amount of N$162 million will be used during the first part of the agreement. By the end of February 2010 a total of N$39.63 million had already been spent. A needs analysis for conservation areas was done in the tourism sector, to implement training capacity building in the 31 registered communal conservancy areas. An interactive website is being designed for the NTB to serve as a portal for all tourist activities in Namibia. Part of the budget will be spent on road maintenance equipment for the Etosha National Park.
