Travel News - Industry News - Accommodation establishments to be graded
Namibian tourism accommodation will soon be graded according to the
VisitScotland Quality Assurance Scheme. To put this into practice, seven
inspectors from the Namibian Tourism Board (NTB) recently graduated
from an intensive three-week star-grading training.
The CEO of the NTB, Digu//Naobeb, explained that Namibia’s accommodation
establishments would benefit from the implementation of a star-grading
scheme, as it provides owners and managers- with information on how to
access development advice and other support services.
The grading also provides tourists with the means to identify visitor
attractions, which provide the desired quality of facilities and
services. VisitScotland, formerly known as the Scottish Tourism Board,
has been operating a quality assurance scheme for visitor attraction
since 1995. This grading system is not compulsory, but will help
establishments to improve marketing opportunities.
